创造记录的190E汽车

To demonstrate the reliability of its car’s, Mercedes-Benz set a number of world records with the Mercedes 190E. From this day to August 21st at the circular high-speed track in Nardò, Italy, three vehicles covered a distance of 50,000 kilometers (31,068 miles) over the course of just 201 hours, 39 minutes and 43 seconds. The cars ran full-throttle in fifth gear at 6,000 rpm, averaging 247.94 km/h (154.06 mph) and little over 22 liters/100 km. The record cars were largely identical to the series production version, which debuted a month later at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Future World Champion Alan Jones won his first Grand Prix. The Australian driver took his Shadow DN8 to a twenty-second victory at the Austrian Grand Prix over local hero Niki Lauda in his Ferrari 312T2. It was the only race victory for Shadow Racing Cars during its eight-year Formula One history.

Aston Martin unveiled the £160,000 6-litre V12 DBS at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. With a top speed of 191 mph it could accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds. Urban fuel consumption was 11.64 mpg and CO2 emissions were 388g/km.

Reserve Lotus driver, Nigel Mansell, made his Grand Prix debut at the Osterreichring, Austria. The future world champion retired with a broken engine after 40 laps. The race was won by French driver, Jean-Pierre Jabouille driving a Renault RE20. The win was Jabouille's second and last Formula One Grand Prix victory.

Stirling Moss driving a Vanwall 57 won the Pescara Grand Prix, near Pescara, Italy. The race, which was the only Formula One World Championship race at the track, with a length of 25.579km(15.89 Miles) it was also the longest ever circuit to stage a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix. The temporary public road circuit used for this race was located near the picturesque town of Pescara.The race drew a crowd in excess of 200,000 spectators.

Michael Schumacher won his fourth World Championship and equalled Alain Prost's record of 51 Grand Prix victories at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Rubens Barrichello in the other Ferrari finished second and McLaren driver David Coulthard finished third.
