Call for Papers — Special Issue on “Advances in Surfaces, Interfaces and Interphases 2022”
This Special Issue is designed as a Special Topic Issue. The journal invites all scientists and experts performing research in relevant or connected areas to submit their manuscript (s)
Special issue information:
Recent advances in surfaces, interfaces, and interphases at the micro-/nano scales have been an attractive and frequently interdisciplinary subject of fundamental and experimental research in science and technology. New advanced technologies, novel emerging materials, and improved understanding of phenomena at surfaces and interphases fueled the fast evolution of this area of science, located at the crossroads between physics, chemistry, and biology. Among them, are the impressive achievements in energy production and storage, the discovery of new catalysts and biocatalysts, and the advances in the field of sensors and biosensors. Surfaces, interfaces, and interphase phenomena are intrinsically connected to the recent advances in environmental sciences, biology, and medical-related applications. Advanced modeling and improved theoretical investigations improved the fundamental understanding of phenomena occurring at surfaces, interfaces or/and within interphases. This special issue includes a selection of the best original contributions delivered interactively during "Advances in Surfaces, Interfaces and Interphases 2022" – an online conference organized between the 15th and 18th of May 2022. (About - Advances in Surfaces, Interfaces, and Interphases - Conferences - Elsevier) as well as outstanding contributed manuscripts focused on the main topics in Surface Science. The issue invite for the submission of manuscripts from all attendants to the conference and their peers engaged in active research in the broad area of surfaces, interfaces, or interphases.
The Special Issue is designed as a Special Topic Issue rather than as a Proceedings Special Issue. Consequently, the journal invites all scientists and experts performing research in relevant or connected areas to submit their manuscript (s). All contributions will be subjected to the standard peer review of the “Surfaces and Interfaces”

Important notes for potential authors who intend to contribute to this SI:
This SI will undergo VSI (virtual special issue) workflow, in which articles will be published in regular issues as soon as they are accepted. That means the accepted papers will not be kept 'on the shelf until all submissions to the SI obtain a final decision, and Elsevier will collect the SI articles from all the volumes and combine it into a "Special Issue Collection" in Science Direct.
