特刊介绍
Discovering general laws is a primary goal in ecology but these have proven famously rare in this discipline. Instead, processes appear to express differently in dissimilar contexts and systems. Rather than a barrier to understanding this context-dependency is itself ecological process, and worthy of exploration. Camera traps can detect entire communities over very large areas in a reliably replicable way, and so have been yielding unique insights into how ecological processes are similar or different across space. This goal of this Special Issue is to collate camera-trapping research that is yielding new insights into how systems work. Papers from across the ecological hierarchy – behaviour, populations, communities, ecosystems – are welcome which explore how ecological processes manifest in a study system.
