Overview of the functions of the post
Description of Responsibilities:
Under
the authority of the Director, UNESCO Beijing Regional Office and the immediate
supervision of National Professional Officer (NPO) for
Communication and Information (CI), the Service Contract holder will perform
the following duties:
1. Assist
in the implementation of the Office’s activities in the field of CI within the
framework of the Office mandate.
2. Provide
necessary administrative support to project implementation, monitoring &
evaluation, budget control, reporting.
3. Update
of relevant databases within the framework of CI programmes.
4. Assist
in the preparation of contracts, prepare and monitor payments, and oversee the
budget situation.
5. Communicate
and follow up with project partners to ensure smooth implementation of
programme activities.
6. Assist
in organizing seminars, workshops and trainings as planned by the Section.
7. Assist
in preparing various kinds of reports, news articles, speeches, presentations,
meeting minutes, memos, letters and other correspondence, provide translation
and interpretation services.
8. Assist
in maintaining contact with donors and other partners in the five Regional
Office representative countries.
9. Undertake
any other assignments requested by the Director or the NPO.
The Contract Holder undertakes to carry
out these tasks and services with care and diligence, and to comply with the
rules and regulations of UNESCO and the instructions of their supervisor in
connection with their duties as set out above.
UNESCO may assign additional tasks to the contract holder or may modify tasks without the contract holder’s consent, provided those tasks are consistent with the duties as set out above.
Required qualifications
EDUCATION
Secondary/High School certificate, technical and/or vocational training. A University degree related to the communication and information mandate of UNESCO or similar would be an asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in the area of project management, coordination and implementation.

LANGUAGES
Excellent knowledge of English and Mandarin (oral and written).
Benefits and entitlements
Benefits include: 2.5 days of leave per month, up to 15% of the basic salary for medical insurance and pension plan.
A WRITTEN EXAMINATION MAY BE USED IN THE EVALUATION OF CANDIDATES.
