As a potential TikTok ban looms, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave her response in a unique way: by posting her first video on the social media platform.

美国国会封杀抖音在即,亚历山德里娅·奥卡西奥·科尔特斯(AOC)以一种独特的方式做出了回应:在社交媒体平台上发布了她的第一个视频。


"This is not only my first TikTok, but it is a TikTok about TikTok," Ocasio-Cortez said in her introduction, adding "Do I believe TikTok should be banned? No."

AOC在她的介绍中说:这不仅是我的第一条抖音视频,还是一条关于抖音的视频。她补充说,“抖音应该被封杀吗?我不这么认为。”


The New York Democrat said banning the popular video-sharing app would be an "unprecedented" move.

这位美国民主党人表示,禁止这款广受欢迎的视频分享应用将是一项“史无前例”的举措。


"I think it's important to discuss how unprecedented of a move this would be. The United States has never before banned a social media company from existence, from operating in our borders," she said in her video.

“我认为,重要的是要讨论这一举措将是多么史无前例。美国以前从未在境内对社交媒体公司封杀或禁止运营,”她在视频中说。


"And this is an app that has over 150 million Americans on it."

"In fact, the United States is one of the only developed nations in the world that has no significant data or privacy protection laws on the books," she argued,

later adding "So to me,the solution here is not to ban an individual company — but to actually protect Americans from this kind of egregious data harvesting that companies can do without your significant ability to say no."

In Japan, anyone who loves mapo tofu, a dish from Southwest China's Sichuan Province, knows chef Chen Jianyi, a man who devoted his life to cooking and adapting this hot and spicy Chinese dish for Japanese customers.

在日本,任何喜欢麻婆豆腐的人都知道陈建一大厨,麻婆豆腐是一道来自中国西南部四川的菜肴,陈建一毕生致力于烹饪事业,并将这道辛辣的中国菜改造成适合日本食客的菜肴。


Chen's career and life even inspired a Japanese manga artist to create Cooking Master Boy, a household manga and anime which became a common childhood memory among Japanese born in the 1980s and 1990s.

陈建一的事业和生活甚至启发了一位日本漫画艺术家,《中华小当家》因此诞生了。这部家喻户晓的日漫成为了出生于80年代和90年代的日本人共同的童年记忆。



Sadly, chef Chen passed away recently, and the news of his death dominated media headlines in Japan.

遗憾的是,陈大厨最近去世了,他去世的消息刷遍了日本媒体的头条新闻。


Etsushi Ogawa, the author of the manga, also wrote an article to mourn Chen.

该日漫的作者小川悦司也写了一篇文章悼念陈建一。


It is said that the three things from Sichuan Province that have influenced Japan are the classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, pandas and Sichuan cuisine.

人们普遍认为,有三样来自四川的东西影响着日本:经典小说《三国演义》、熊猫和川菜。


Chen was a household name in Japan.

在日本,陈建一是一个家喻户晓的名字。


His father Chen Jianmin was also a chef and was even given the name as the "God of Sichuan cuisine" in Japan. In 1952, Chen Jianmin went to Japan after ending his business in Hong Kong.

他的父亲陈建民也是一名厨师,在日本甚至享有“川菜之神”的称号。1952年,陈建民结束了在香港的生意后,就去了日本。

He managed to open the first Sichuan cuisine restaurant in Tokyo six years after his arrival thanks to his excellent cooking skills.
在抵达东京六年后,他成功地在这开了第一家川菜馆,这要归功于他出色的烹饪技能。

To better cater to the tastes of Japanese people, he used some local spices to adapt traditional Sichuan dishes.
为了更好地迎合日本人的口味,他使用了一些当地香料来调整传统的川菜。

His son Chen Jianyi, born in 1956, grew up with "the kitchen as his playground." After graduating from college with a degree in English literature, instead of working in his own discipline, he became his father's apprentice to learn to cook Sichuan cuisine.
他的儿子陈建一出生于1956年,从小到大,他“把厨房当成游乐场”。在大学毕业获得英国文学学位后,他没有做自己专业对口的工作,而是成为了父亲的学徒,学习烹饪川菜。

After his father passed away in 1990, Chen took over the Sichuan restaurant at the age of 34. However, he was never a rigid follower.
1990年,他的父亲去世后,陈建一在34岁时接管了这家四川餐厅。然而,陈建一不愿墨守成规。


He improved their family's signature dish even further to give it a "spicy and slightly sweet taste." In a cooking competition in 1993, he broke a record and claimed the title of "First Chef of Chinese Food" in Japan.
他进一步改进了他们家这道招牌菜,使其具有“辛辣和微甜的味道”。在1993年的一次烹饪比赛中,他打破了一项记录,并获得了日本“中餐第一厨师”的称号。

By virtue of this reputation, his deep love for his father and his extraordinary management skills, he opened 16 Sichuan restaurants in Japan and wrote books, both of which helped enhance Chinese food culture.
凭借这个声誉,他对父亲深深的爱以及非凡的管理能力,他在日本开了16家四川餐厅,并写了书,这些都有助于弘扬中国饮食文化。

Without his dedication to learning, adapting, innovating and promoting Sichuan dishes, Chinese food would not fascinate the Japanese as it does.
如果没有他对学习、调整、创新和推广川菜所做的努力,中国菜就不会像现在这样吸引日本人。


Chen Jianyi's spirit also moved his son Chen Jiantaro, who chose to take his father's career path.
陈建一的精神也打动了他的儿子陈建太郎,他选择了继承父亲的职业。
